Balancing work pressures with the responsibility of looking after elderly parents will be a major challenge for workers in 2018, according to a forecast by the UK Chartered Management Institute.
The forecast suggests workers will spend more time at home in order to care for both parents and children while staying connected to work via instant communications and holographic meetings.
In addition, the forecast predicts workers will increasingly use microchips to enhance performance such as 'bio-chips' implanted into an employee's brain to boost their memory or knowledge.

We completely agree. Caring for elderly parents will be a major responsibility for employees in the next decade. And, it would be wise for employers to start preparing for that now. Loosen up a bit on the rules and guidelines around things like attendance, work schedules, and tardiness. Employees are adults that know what they have to do to get a paycheck - loosen the reigns and see what they can do. Most of them probably have great ideas about how they could handle their work and life responsibilities, but they're bound by the rules of the workplace.
Trust them to manage their own time and you'd be surprised what they can accomplish.
