Australians are working longer hours and it's not just bad for our work life balance; it's also damaging consumer confidence, which has slumped to its lowest level since 2003, according to news.com.au.
MasterCard's MasterIndex indicates a fall in consumer confidence of 1.2 points to 45.3 points for the first half of 2007. The study suggests confidence in employment levels and the economy have also dropped.
Researchers believe this dim outlook may be a result of frustration over a worsening work life balance. It's claimed Australians have higher expectations of what we want out of life but we don't have time to fulfil these goals because of work pressures.
